New Technologies Help Improve Efficiency in Hyundai Vehicles
With each new year, car manufacturers such as Hyundai continue to innovate in terms of technology, convenience and performance. While exciting new features and power enhancements are extremely exciting, Hyundai continues to help drivers by also improving the fuel economy of their most popular models. For those in the market for a new car, we wanted to highlight some of the new technologies to help improve efficiency in Hyundai vehicles.
What is the Hyundai Active Shift Control Transmission?
Recently, Hyundai has created the world’s first Active Shift Control transmission. This in-house developed technology is able to optimize transmission efficiency by monitoring gear shifts 500 times per second, and in turn, precisely adjusting the transmission rotation speed for faster shifting. This new technology is now set for mass production, as it will be going on to make its first appearance in the new Sonata Hybrid model. Soon, the new Active Shift Control transmission will be used in more upcoming Hyundai and Kia hybrid models.
The new Active Shift Control transmission utilizes new control logic software to the Hybrid Control Unit to help reduce gear shift time by 30%, as well as offers gear changes despite the quicker shift times as well.
“The development of world’s first ASC technology is a remarkable innovation which incorporates precise motor control to automatic transmission. It will not only save fuel but also provide a more fun driving experience for our customers.”
–KyoungJoon Chang, Vice President and Head of Powertrain Control System Group of Hyundai Motor Group
