Smart Fingerprint Technology in Hyundai Vehicles
Whether it’s features that keep us safe or to make each drive entertaining, new technology in our vehicles is truly incredible. However, some great features are implemented just to make driving easier and more convenient. Often looking to innovate in the industry, Hyundai has been working on implementing new technologies to their lineup, such as the new smart fingerprint technology in Hyundai vehicles.
This new technology is the first of its kind in the world, as it will be able to let drivers unlock their car doors and start the vehicle solely with their fingerprint. While this may sound a little unsafe to some, Hyundai is using capacitance recognition to prevent fake fingerprints, as well as using a dynamic update system to continually improve the rate of success for safety.
To unlock the door with the new smart fingerprint technology, drivers will need to place a finger on the sensor that’s located on the door handle. When starting the vehicle, the driver will have to place a finger on the ignition button. This technology will also be first implemented in the new Santa Fe SUV, which is planned to arrive at dealerships in the first quarter of 2019.
“In the future, Hyundai Motor plans to further expand the application of the technology to allow the adjustment of temperature, steering wheel position, and many other features which will be tailored to driver’s preferences. This will ultimately offer quality driving experience to each and every Hyundai customer.”
-Albert Biermann, President and Head of Research & Development Division of the Hyundai Motor Company
