Differences between the 2019 Elantra and Elantra GT

When it comes to price, these two models are fairly comparable, but the Elantra GT is a little more. Some of this comes down to packaging though. The Elantra GT only comes in two trim levels, the Base and the performance-oriented N-Line. The Elantra comes in six trim levels starting with the SE and going up from there with the SEL, Value Edition, ECO, Sport, and the top Limited trim. For the sake of comparison, there is only a $600 difference in MSRP between the top Elantra Limited and the top Elantra GT N-Line.

The Elantra gives you a sporty 2.0-liter engine to start with, and at 147 horsepower, that is also the most powerful engine option for the Elantra. The ECO trim does sacrifice a little power with its 1.4-liter turbo engine to give you the impressive fuel economy. The Elantra GT goes in the other direction. With 161 horsepower coming standard, it already provides more power than any Elantra trim level, and the top N-Line gets even more power with a 1.6-liter turbo that produces 201 horsepower.

The utility of a hatchback is one of the reasons why many pick models like the Elantra GT over their sedan counterparts. What’s nice is, even with people in all five seating positions, you get more cargo room to play around with. On the Elantra GT, that amounts to over 10 cubic-feet of extra space. What’s more, if you fold those rear seats down, that cargo room expands to 55.1 cubic-feet of cargo room in the Elantra GT. Ultimately, the choice is yours when it comes to these two models.
