The 2021 Kona gets an all new trim for the new model year: the blacked-out Night. Alongside the black exterior paint, it has 18-inch RAYS semi-gloss black alloy wheels, black cloth upholstery, a black headliner, and other black exterior and interior styling elements. It also has aluminum-alloy sports pedals, as well as LED headlights and taillights. It's powered by the 1.6-liter turbo-four and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic found in the Limited and Ultimate trims. The Night trim is expected to make its way to market in late-2020/early-2021.

Powertrain Options

There are two different engine options for the 2021 Kona. SE, SEL, and SEL Plus models are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic. The engine produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. FWD models with this engine are rated at 27/33/30 mpg, while AWD models get 26/30/28 mpg. The Night, Limited, and Ultimate have the aforementioned 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The turbo-four pumps out 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. FWD fuel economy for this powertrain is rated at 28/32/30 mpg. AWD models are estimated at 26/29/27 mpg.

Connectivity and Safety

The 2021 Kona comes with plenty of standard tech.
